Vol. 122 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Profits of Millers and Flour Importers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that excessive profits are being made by millers and flour importers and whether he proposes to take any steps to limit or restrict these profits.

The matters raised in the Deputy's question have been dealt with in the Report of the Flour and Bread Inquiry. I suggest that the Deputy awaits publication of the report, which will be made as soon as the Government has concluded its consideration of the recommendations therein.

Will the Minister agree that the Deputy and other Deputies are a long time waiting?

And for the 30 per cent. reduction that the Deputy advocated.

The Minister did not have to wait for any report to reach a conclusion on the substance of the Deputy's question.
