Vol. 122 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Bill.

Captain Cowan asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he can now state when he hopes to introduce the Social Welfare Bill and also if he can state approximately the date on which pensions and benefits will be increased.

The Deputy will be aware that I introduced the Social Welfare (Insurance) Bill, 1950, this morning. It is proposed to proceed with the Second Stage of the Bill when the Dáil reassembles after the Summer Recess. The date of the operation of the proposed benefits provided in the Bill will depend on the date upon which the legislation has been finally enacted by both Houses of the Oireachtas.
