Vol. 122 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Creamery Stops.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state whether he intends to make a creamery stop at Carrigeen, Headford, County Kerry, where 20 new suppliers, who live three miles from the nearest creamery, are awaiting facilities.

The Dairy Disposal Company have, at my request, made a survey of the Headford area of County Kerry and have informed me that it would not be practicable for them to arrange for a travelling creamery stop at Carrigeen as suggested. This area is within three miles of the company's cream-separating station at Bealnadeega and just over three and a half miles from their separating station at Clohane. A new stop there would attract only about 12 new milk suppliers. I would suggest that these farmers should co-operate in making arrangements for the conveyance of their combined milk supplies to the nearest separating station, as is at present being done by farmers in many other areas.
