Vol. 122 No. 8

Supplementary Estimates, 1950-1951—Leave to Introduce.

I move—

That leave be given by the Dáil to introduce the following Supplementary Estimates for the service of the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1951, namely:—

Votes Nos.—

47 (Lands),

60 (Office of the Minister for Social Welfare),

65 (National Health Insurance).

Leave to introduce granted.

These are to be taken with the Vote?

Supplementary Estimates Nos. 60 and 65 will be taken with the Vote. These Supplementary Estimates arise out of the transfer of the National Health Insurance Society to the Department of Social Welfare.

They do not raise any new principle?

No new principle. It is only a matter of making provision for the payment of salaries and wages.

It is proposed to take the Supplementary Estimates with the main Estimate?

Yes, with the main Estimate for the Department of Social Welfare.

There is also a Supplementary Estimate for Lands.

Probably it will be set down for to-morrow.

It will be taken to-morrow?

If it is circulated in time.

Deputies opposite have enough experience to know that an Estimate for the Department of Lands is not a routine one.

Ordered: That Supplementary Estimates Nos. 60 and 65 be taken with the main Estimate for the Department of Social Welfare and that Supplementary Estimate No. 47 be taken on Thursday, 13th July.
