Vol. 122 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Haulbowline Steel Industry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether the question of the extension of the steel industry at Haulbowline, in order to operate the sheet mill for the production of corrugated iron, has been referred to the Industrial Development Authority and whether the Industrial Development Authority have yet reported on its feasibility and, if they have not, when a report can be expected.

The question of the present and future position of Irish Steel Holdings, Limited, has been referred to the Industrial Development Authority. I have not yet received their report and I am not in a position to say when I will receive it. I need hardly remind the Deputy that a highly technical problem of this kind must necessarily call for some lengthy consideration.
