Vol. 123 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Distribution of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will now state at what stage are the proceedings for the acquisition and distribution of the Jackson farm at Kilfenora, County Clare, and if he is in a position to state when these proceedings will be brought to a conclusion.

The proceedings for the acquisition of the estate in question are in the final stages. I am not in a position to indicate when the proceedings will be concluded.

That is practically the same answer as was given on previous occasions. Is there any set of circumstances in which that answer could vary?

The Deputy is not quite correct. The answer on the last occasion was to the effect that proceedings had only just been initiated. They are now in the final stages.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state how much land in County Meath is now in the hands of the Land Commission and available for distribution, and if he will state what proportion of this land will be made available to local congests, uneconomic holders and cottage tenants.

The Land Commission have 2,237 acres on hands in County Meath. It would be undesirable and contrary to practice to disclose information of the nature asked for in the latter part of the question.
