Vol. 123 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clare County Council Administrative and Clerical Staffs.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state how many persons are at present employed on the administrative and clerical staffs of Clare County Council at the courthouse and county home, Ennis, and the total cost of these staffs, with corresponding figures for each of the years 1920, 1930 and 1940.

There are no records either in my Department or in the offices of the local authority which would enable me to give the information asked for in respect of the year 1920. Such records as are available in my Department in respect of the financial year 1930 indicate that 22 persons were employed at an approximate cost of £6,000. In the financial year ended 31st March, 1940, 25 persons were employed at a total cost of £8,121 and in the current financial year 42 persons are employed at a total estimated cost of £13,653. The figures for the years 1930 and 1940 include the staff of the former board of health and public assistance. The 1940 figures include two persons and the 1950 figures seven persons who are not employed in the courthouse or the county home.
