Vol. 123 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rehabilitation of Handicapped Persons.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Health if he has received a request from the Society for the Rehabilitation of the Handicapped for the provision of adequate medical services for the rehabilitation of such persons in order to fit them to earn their living in productive employment; and, if so, if he will state what he proposes to do in the matter.

Representations have recently been received in my Department from the Society for the Rehabilitation of the Handicapped. The matter of providing special facilities for the education and employment of handicapped persons is a very complicated one and other Government Departments are closely interested in it. The question is being examined by the Departments concerned.
