Vol. 123 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Pay Days.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that many serving soldiers object to being paid on Wednesdays, rather than at the week-end, and if he will consider bringing the procedure in regard to the payment of soldiers and the date therefor into conformity with the desire of those most immediately concerned.

I am aware of the desire amongst noncommissioned officers and men in the Army that they should receive their pay at week-ends, instead of on Wednesdays as at present. I hope to have the pay day altered to Friday of each week from the beginning of the next financial year, that is, after the 31st March, 1951.
