Vol. 123 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killarney Show Society.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that an increased grant to the Killarney Show Society has been refused by the Kerry County Committee of Agriculture due to an incident at the Killarney Show between a Kerry horticultural instructor and a member of the show society; and if he will inquire into the affair with a view to satisfying himself whether, under the circumstances, the county committee of agriculture is justified in refusing the increased grant.

I understand that the matter referred to in the Deputy's question relates to a grant in respect of the Killarney Society's Show to be held in 1951, and that the Kerry County Committee of Agriculture have decided to withhold a provisionally allocated increase in the society's grant pending settlement in relation to an incident at the 1950 show in which an officer of the committee was involved. The award of any such grant and the determination of its amount is a matter for the county committee of agriculture.
