Vol. 123 No. 8

- Kerry Firm's Flour Quota.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that the flour quota of a Kerry firm has been reduced as a result of which hardship has been caused to the general consumer and if he will have the matter investigated and adjusted at an early date.

I have made inquiries and have ascertained that the firm referred to is being supplied with the quantity of flour represented by the registration pages lodged with it, and, consequently, no adjustment of its supplies is needed.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that one of these traders has contracts to supply a number of hospitals in various areas of Kerry and that cognisance was not taken of that fact by the inspector of the Department when his quota was restricted?

If the traders concerned supply duly certified requisitions they will be supplied with flour on foot of them, but in May of this year one of those traders requisitioned 120 sacks of flour which was 93 sacks in excess of the legal requirement to which he was entitled.
