Vol. 123 No. 8

- Camping of Itinerants on Public Roads.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will consider the danger to public health caused by large numbers of itinerants parking along the public roads with their horses, asses, goats and dogs, and with carts loaded with cast-off bedclothes, and if he will state what steps he proposes to take to meet this menace to the public health.

I have no direct functions in this matter. In any case where a nuisance arises from the behaviour of itinerants or others the local sanitary authority has power under the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Acts, 1878 to 1948, to take steps to have the nuisance abated.
