Vol. 123 No. 8

- Fermoy Hospital Attendants' Hours.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received an order from the local authority of North Cork public health and assistance committee respecting the grant of an eight-hour day to the male and female attendants of Fermoy county hospital, and Mallow, Kanturk and Millstreet district hospitals; and, if so, if he will state when he will approve of the order.

I have not received the order referred to by the Deputy.

The Cork County Council, in a communication addressed to my Department on the 5th June last, stated that the North Cork Public Health and Assistance Committee passed a resolution on the 8th May last recommending the introduction of a 96-hour fortnight for all staffs in hospitals in its area and that inquiries were being made to ascertain how the introduction of a 96-hour fortnight would affect the staffing of the institutions concerned. No further communication on the matter has since been received.
