Vol. 123 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Telephone Needs.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware of the urgent demand for a public telephone kiosk in Tallaght; and, if so, if he will arrange for the erection of a kiosk at an early date.

I regret that the use likely to be made of a public telephone kiosk at Tallaght would not be sufficient to justify the erection of one there.

It is strange that the Minister is able to judge that already notwithstanding that the population of that district has increased by 50 per cent. during the last few years.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that a public telephone is urgently required at Palmerstown due to the large number of new houses which have been built in the area over the past years, and if he will take special steps to meet this need.

I regret that the use likely to be made of a public telephone kiosk at Palmerstown would not be sufficient to justify the erection of one there at present. I will have the matter kept under review, however, in the light of further building development in the area.
