Vol. 123 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pigs and Bacon Commission.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what duties are at present performed by the Pigs and Bacon Commission, and if he has any plan at present regarding it.

With regard to the first part of the question, I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to a similar question by him on 30th November, 1949. As to the second part of the question, I am proposing to reconstitute the commission and hope to make an announcement on this matter at an early date.

Will the Minister say why he is reconstituting it?

Because I think it will thereby be better able to give useful service to the industry and to the community.

What sort of service has the Minister in mind when he talks of useful service?

I would ask the Deputy to wait for the announcement which I hope to be in a position to make, when the fullest particulars will be available.

It is all a matter of making announcements which never seem to materialise.

The Deputy may be rude if he likes.
