Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that Mr. Denis J. Keane offered his farm of approximately fifty acres to the Land Commission about a year ago for either cash compensation or an alternative holding, and if he will state what is now the position regarding this holding which is situated at Murneen, Claremorris, County Mayo.

Mr. Keane did not offer to sell his lands to the Land Commission. He applied for an exchange of holdings and his application will be finally dealt with if and when suitable lands become available.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what is the present position regarding the acquisition of the estate of Miss Kenny (formerly of Captain Browne) situated at Dowagh, Cross, County Mayo.

The Land Commission have decided to discontinue their proceedings for the acquisition of these lands.

Would it be in order to ask the Land Commission to state why they do not go ahead with the proceedings to acquire these lands?

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the fact that Mr. John D. Kilkenny, of Knock, Claremorris, County Mayo, is in possession of a non-residential farm at Brackloon, Bekan, County Mayo, and if he will state what steps have been taken by the Land Commission to take over this land for the relief of local congestion.

Proceedings were instituted for the acquisition of part of these lands but an objection by the owner was upheld by the Land Commission.
