Vol. 123 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salmon Licences.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether in connection with his promise to furnish information made in reply to a question on the 23rd November, 1950, he will indicate the provisions of the Fisheries Acts which it has been decided preclude the issue of licences for salmon net fishing in the tidal navigable waters of the estuary of the River Corrib.

There is no provision in the Fisheries Acts which precludes the issue of licences for salmon net fishing in the tidal navigable waters of the River Corrib.

The issue or possession of such a licence, however, does not authorise the holder to fish in any waters the exclusive fishing rights of which are held by another person. Any question regarding such rights or an infringement of them would be a matter for the courts.
