Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Scrap Iron and Steel.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state (a) the quantity by weight of scrap iron and scrap steel used and consumed for industrial purposes in this country during the year 1950, (b) the estimated annual requirement of scrap iron and scrap steel for all purposes in this country.

The total quantity of scrap iron and scrap steel used for industrial purposes during the year 1950 was 32,900 tons approximately. The estimated annual requirements of both commodities are about 34,000 tons.
