Vol. 124 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Harbour Development.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the nature of the decision, if any, taken by him on the application of the Galway Harbour Commissioners for financial aid to enable them to complete the second part of their scheme of development.

The application made by the Galway Harbour Commissioners was for a grant to meet the full cost of the second part of their developments scheme estimated in 1947 to cost £370,000.

As I informed the Deputy in reply to his question of 23rd November last, it was necessary to obtain additional particulars from the harbour commissioners. These particulars have been received and have been under examination by the Departments concerned. I will do everything possible to expedite a decision on the application.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say how soon it is expected a decision will be made?

I cannot say, because the additional information which was required came to hand only recently.
