Vol. 124 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dispensary for West Cabra.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that a dispensary is urgently needed in the West Cabra area, and further, if he will state the steps he proposes to take to provide this essential service for the benefit of the 2,000 families in this area.

I am not aware that an additional dispensary is needed to cater for the residents of West Cabra, Finglas and Glasnevin No. 2 Dispensary District. In 1949 the question of the dispensary facilities in the Cabra area was examined, and it was considered that adequate facilities could be provided at the existing dispensary in Quarry Road, by the two medical officers employed.

In view of the Deputy's question, I am asking the Dublin Board of Assistance whether there has been any recent alteration in the position which would warrant the erection of a dispensary at West Cabra, and if the Deputy is aware of any special circumstances of which he feels I should take account when considering the matter, I would be grateful to him if he would bring them to my notice.
