Vol. 124 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that a large farm is for sale at the Glen, Ballin-skelligs, whether he will ascertain from the Land Commission if they have considered the propriety of purchasing it for the relief of congestion in that district; and, if so, with what result.

As the Deputy states that the farm in question is for sale, I presume he wishes the Land Commission to exercise their powers of purchase under Section 27, Land Act, 1950. I have already made it clear to the House that the Land Commission's intentions in such cases will not under any circumstances be made known beforehand. Any disclosure of this nature might place the Land Commission, prospective purchasers and the seller at a serious disadvantage.

Is the Minister aware that the owner in question is prepared to offer these lands to the Land Commission if they give the market value or any reasonable price for them?

These lands have not been offered.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is proposed to divide the bogland at Derrha (De Ynasz estate), and Tullamore, County Kerry.

The turbary in Derrha West and Inch Moor is in course of allotment. The bog in Tullamore was only recently acquired and a scheme for allotment is not yet ready.
