Vol. 124 No. 5

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Assistant Agricultural Overseers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state what progress has been made in giving effect to an undertaking given in the House in December, 1950, that those who are privileged to be assistant agricultural overseers would be appointed parish agents with full pension rights, and that operations under the parish plan would commence before the end of January, 1951.

As I indicated on the occasion to which the Deputy refers, a competition will be held to give effect to the appointments which I mentioned. The arrangements for the holding of the necessary competition are at present in train and there will be no avoidable delay, so far as I am concerned, in bringing them to finality.
