Vol. 124 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Demand for New Road.

Mr. Collins

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that there is a strong demand by the people of Dromalane village, Adrigole, for a new road from the main Castletownbere-Bantry road to their townland to enable them to cart sea sand to their farms and to facilitate the transport of crops.

Mr. Collins

asked the Minister for Finance if he will sanction a grant for the construction of a road at Filane, Castletownbere, from Mr. Jack Lowney's house to meet a bog road which is used by all the local residents.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I shall reply to Questions Nos. 35 to 40, inclusive, together.

Without a considerable amount of investigation of papers involving an undue loss of official time, it would not be possible to identify with certainty the six separate proposals referred to by the Deputy. If, however, he will let me have particulars, showing in each case the name of the townland and the district electoral division, with a description of the location of the proposed work, I shall have inquiries made, a survey carried out in each area, and inform him in due course.

The Board of Works is not so naïve as all that. All of these schemes have been on the stocks for nearly eight years and I would like some reply from the Parliamentary Secretary.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary tell us that there is no information in the Office of Public Works with regard to those matters.

Up West Cork.

I am aware that several applications have been made for some of those works.

The position is that not even an electoral division is named. He asks me about a road leading from one man's house to another.

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply given to all those questions I propose with your permission, a Chinn Comhairle, to raise the matter on the Adjournment.

I want to point out that Deputies should identify the places mentioned in their questions in such a way that they could be traced.
