Vol. 124 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Arbitration Machinery.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has received representations from the Garda Representative Body to have arbitration machinery established between that body and the Government, and if he is now in a position to state whether the representations have been considered; and, if so, with what result, and if they have not yet been considered when it is likely that they will be.

The Garda Síochána Representative Bodies for N.C.O.s and Guards have asked me to examine the possibility of extending to the Garda Síochána the system of arbitration for civil servants which was set up on an experimental basis on 31st May last, subject to review after 12 months.

I shall give consideration to the matter when there has been some experience of the working of the system in the Civil Service.
