Vol. 125 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal Stocks.

Major de Valera

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what reserve stocks of coal were held and available in the country on (a) the 31st December, 1950; (b) the 30th March, 1951.

The only national reserve stocks of coal are those held by Fuel Importers, Limited. The stocks held by this company on the dates mentioned by the Deputy were:

31st December, 1950

224,738 tons

31st March, 1951

126,389 tons.

Major de Valera

Is the figure of 126,389 tons on the 31st March, 1951, to be taken as comparable with the stock of 440,000 tons available in February, 1948?

I do not think that is supplementary to the question asked. If the Deputy asks that question separately, I shall get the information.
