Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the lands of Mrs. Knox, Belgarrif, Foxford, on the Evans estate, were recently advertised for sale; and, if so, whether the Land Commisson will consider the propriety of acquiring this farm for the relief of the uneconomic holders in the area.

Proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of these lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the position as regards the Davis farm, Ballyvicmeela, Rakestreet, and whether the Land Commission will consider the propriety of acquiring this farm for the relief of congestion in the area in view of the fact that the owners are willing to dispose of it.

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of this estate.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the Hollyfield estate, Ballintrillick, County Sligo; and, if so, with what result.

Proceedings have been instituted for the acquisition of this estate. An objection to acquisition has been lodged and will be disposed of in due course.

asked the Minister for Lands whether his attention has been drawn to the advertised offer for sale of lands, the property of Mr. D. Ó Briain, T.D., and whether the Land Commission will consider the acquisition of these lands for division amongst landless men, Old I.R.A. men and uneconomic holders in the West Limerick area.

The answer to the first part of the question is "yes." The Land Commission have no proceedings in respect of the lands.

Pádraig Ó Cuinneáin

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state why the application of Mrs. Mary O'Connell, Lettiv West, Glenbeigh, County Kerry (Record No. U.12910), for an exchange holding has not been considered especially as the application was first made in 1945 and her present holding is most suitable for division among uneconomic holders in the area.

Mrs. O'Connell's application has been noted for further consideration if and when suitable lands to which she could be migrated become available. At the moment they are not available.

Pádraig Ó Cuinneáin

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state what action the Land Commission are taking in connection with the undivided portion of the Thompson estate at Barnane, County Tipperary, and if it is not proposed to divide these lands among the cottiers and uneconomic holders of the district as promised when the estate was acquired.

Proposals are not yet ready for the allotment of this area which is of very poor quality.
