Vol. 125 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state when the substantial increases in wages which, according to Press reports of a political Party convention at Waterford on 8th April, 1951, he stated post office workers will receive, will come into effect.

Shortened incremental scales for many of the main classes on the postal side, giving increases to a large number of officers are being introduced, with effect from the 26th February. On the engineering side, a complete reorganisation of the workman grades, giving new gradings and improved rates of pay with effect from the 1st April, has been decided on since I spoke. Other negotiations are not yet completed.
