asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the amount provided for old age pensions and widows' and orphans' non-contributory pensions in the financial years 1947-48, 1948-49, 1949-50 and 1950-51.

The amounts expended on old age and blind pensions (including cash supplements) in each of the years mentioned were as follows:—

The amounts expended on widows' and orphans' non-contributory pensions in each of the years 1947-48, 1948-49, 1949-50 and 1950-51 were as follows:—

The figure for 1950-51 is provisional and subject to adjustment.

In the years 1947-48 and 1948-49, cash supplements estimated at £219,000 and £183,000 were also paid to recipients of widows' and orphans' non-contributory pensions.
