Vol. 125 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Marketable Securities.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number and aggregate amounts of marketable securities issued by Irish industrial concerns underwritten by the Industrial Credit Company in each of the past three years.

The Industrial Credit Company made two flotations aggregating £149,333 in 1948, two totalling £425,000 in 1949 and one for an amount of £220,000 in 1950.

It should be said that, in addition, the company underwrote in 1948 issues of shares amounting to £102,000 offered by two public companies to their existing shareholders.

During the three years, shares were taken up in certain cases where public issues were not feasible and in other cases loans were made or guarantees given to firms amounting in all to £653,000.

The total of these various activities of the Industrial Credit Company during the years mentioned was, therefore, £1,550,000.
