Vol. 126 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Naas Railway Bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the existing railway bridge at Naas, County Kildare, is dangerous for traffic, and if he is further aware that the Kildare County Council are anxious to replace such bridge at a cost of approximately £6,000; and, if so, if he will allocate a grant from the Road Fund for that purpose.

I understand that the Kildare County Council have in hands the preparation of details and estimate of cost of the work necessary for the replacement of this bridge. Pending receipt of these particulars, I am not in a position to give the matter any consideration, but I note from the correspondence that the county council were informed last September that it was open to them to finance this work from the grants allocated annually from the Road Fund for main road improvement.
