Vol. 126 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Kiosk for County Donegal.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have a public telephone kiosk erected in the town of Dungloe, County Donegal.

There is a public telephone in the post office at Dungloe and I regret that the use likely to be made of a telephone kiosk in the town would not be sufficient to justify the erection of one there, at present.

Is the Minister aware that there is a general demand for a public kiosk in the town because when the shops and professionals' offices close the people who may require to use a telephone are left without facilities to do so? The only public kiosk is located in the post office and it is impossible to get in there at 7 p.m.

The annual charges on a kiosk amount to a sum of £35 and the Department wants them to pay.

Would it not be possible, in cases like these, to put the kiosk outside the post office?

Hear, hear!
