Vol. 126 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Gratuity to Mr. N. Ward.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state what is the cause of the delay in paying a gratuity to Mr. N. Ward, Brownstown, County Kildare, in respect of his past services at the Curragh Camp.

Before a decision can be taken in the case of an application for such a gratuity, details of the applicant's period of service, absences, rates of pay, etc., have to be checked and the clarification of these details in Mr. Ward's case presented some difficulty as he had over 26 years' service.

A decision has, however, been reached and Mr. Ward has been advised of the amount of the gratuity payable to him.

Will the Minister say what is the amount?

I cannot say that.
