Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Expenditure.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the amount of money for capital expenditure that was given to the Electricity Supply Board for the year ending 31st March, 1951; (b) the total amount of interest paid or charged on the total capital advances outstanding for the year ending 31st March, 1951.

During the year ended 31st March, 1951, advances from the Central Fund to the Electricity Supply Board for capital purposes amounted to £4,600,000, of which £1,400,000 was for rural electrification. Only 50 per cent. of the rural electrification advances are repayable by the board.

Interest paid by the board during the same period on the total repayable advances of £26,517,557 outstanding amounted to £965,088 2s. 0d.
