Vol. 126 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Differential Rents.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the dissatisfaction in Dublin amongst corporation tenants caused through the enforcement of differential rents which involved an exacting investigation and a means test inquiry which is considered objectionable because of the nature of the private family matters which are requested; and, if so, if he will recommend a more equitable method of rent charges based upon an increased grant for the building of houses.

I have nothing to add at present to my reply to the Deputy's question of the 21st June regarding differential rents and to my reply of the 10th instant to Deputy Dunne's question about the rates of subsidy in respect of houses built by local authorities.
