Vol. 126 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Costings.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the fact that the milk costings carried out by Professor Michael Murphy of University College, Cork, were forwarded to his Department at the request of the Department, he will now arrange to have these costings brought up to date either by Professor Murphy or by officials of his Department and laid on the Table of the House, so as to put an end to the campaign against paying milk producers an economic price.

Mr. Walsh

Presumably, the Deputy has in mind the costings on creamery milk production carried out by Professor Murphy in 1946-47 on behalf of Mitchelstown Creamery. If so, I would refer the Deputy to the statement which I made in the House on 27th June to the effect that I was considering the possibility of making arrangements to have comprehensive creamery milk costings worked out afresh. I cannot as yet say the precise form which this investigation will take, but when the results are obtained they will be available to Deputies.
