Vol. 126 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Servants' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that some married retired civil servants with over 25 years' service have pensions of only 24/- a week; and if he can hold out any hope to those pensioners that their pensions will be increased in the near future.

So far as can be ascertained there are only three cases of the kind referred to by the Deputy. In each of these cases the pension will be increased with effect from the 1st May, 1951, to give credit for half the unestablished service rendered which was not reckoned in the calculation of the original award.
