Vol. 126 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kinnitty Cow Park.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has received application from the people of Kinnitty, Birr, Offaly, who desire a cow park on the estate of Lord Decies, Kinnitty, Birr, Offaly, and if this cow park will be provided for use of local cottage tenants and others who require it.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. As I informed the Deputy on the 12th of this month, in reply to a question about this estate, the Land Commission are not in possession of the lands but they are making inquiries as to the suitability of part of them for their purposes. The question of allotment has not yet arisen, but the Deputy can take it that if any part of the lands is acquired all claims will be fully considered before allotment takes place.

Would the Minister see that the claims of the local cottage tenants for a cow park will be given special consideration, in view of the fact that quite a number of people in the village of Kinnitty would not qualify for portions of land in the Land Commission, but would be keeping a cow and have no place to graze a cow? A cow park is very necessary. Would the Minister give an undertaking to give it special consideration?

I have nothing to add to my reply.

It is simple to say yes or no. The least we might expect is civility in a reply from a Minister.
