Vol. 126 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - I.R.A. Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware of the necessity for increasing I.R.A. service pensions under the 1924 to 1949 Acts; and, if so, if he will make a statement on this matter.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that there is a widespread demand by members of Old I.R.A. organisations for a substantial increase in military service pensions; and, if so, if he will say when proposals for legislation to authorise increases in the pensions will be introduced.

asked the Minister for Defence if he intends to introduce proposals for legislation to end the statutory abatement or reduction of military service pensions arising from receipt of moneys from Government or local authority funds; and, if so, when.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 43, 44 and 45 together. As I have already stated, in reply to similar questions, these and a number of other problems are awaiting consideration. I have not had an opportunity yet of examining the merits of the various claims.
