Vol. 127 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Leather Prices.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that purchasers of leather are being charged the same price for damaged bends as for flawless leather; and, if so, if he will take steps to ensure that where high prices are charged bends of a satisfactory quality are delivered.

The price lists for leather show that prices vary according to quality and I have no information that purchasers are charged the same price for damaged bends as for the flawless leather.

If the Deputy produces information will the Minister consider it?

Certainly. If the Deputy studies the price lists of the wholesale leather merchants he will find the contrary is the fact.

Those in the trade tell me not.
