Vol. 127 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Restrictive Practices in Trade.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether the investigation into restrictive practices is now complete and what he proposes to do to end many of these practices.

The investigation into restrictive trade practices has been almost completed and I hope shortly to be in a position to introduce a Bill containing legislative proposals in regard to this matter.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware of the unsatisfactory position created by firms who will not distribute goods, particularly housing materials, to merchants residing in provincial towns, and, if so, whether he will introduce proposals for legislation to deal with these restrictive practices.

I am aware that restrictive practices in a number of trades have given rise to considerable dissatisfaction and proposals for legislation dealing with the matter are being prepared in my Department which, I hope, will soon be ready for consideration by the Government.
