Vol. 127 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Pensioners.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce when proposals for legislation will be introduced to enable payment of increased pensions to Electricity Supply Board pensioners who were transferred from the employment of Dublin Corporation under the Electricity Supply Act, 1927.

Legislation to enable increases in the pensions of the Electricity Supply Board pensioners to whom the question refers is in the course of preparation and it is hoped to secure its introduction in Dáil Éireann at an early date.

Could the Minister indicate in a more definite manner when we may expect to see this legislation?

In this session.

I understand that the matter has been finished for a very considerable time so far as the Electricity Supply Board is concerned.

No, that would not be correct.

That is my information.

At least the question reopened itself, and it is only in the last couple of weeks that it has been settled.

Will the Minister say whether any corresponding legislation is contemplated in Córas Iompair Éireann pensions?

That is a separate question.

Can the Minister say whether employees throughout the country will be affected by this legislation as well as those in the Dublin Corporation?

Yes, all Electricity Supply Board employees.
