Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Division of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the fact that there is acute agitation by local persons for the acquisition and division of the lands on the Weldon estate at Kilmoroney, Athy, County Kildare; whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring these lands, and, if so, with what result.

Proceedings are well advanced for the acquisition of a considerable area on the estate in question.

These lands have been the subject of agitation for a long period. Is the Minister in a position to give any approximate indication as to when the lands are likely to be acquired and divided?

I am not in a position at the moment. I will make inquiries and let the Deputy know. The case only came before the court on 25th October last, when the commissioners decided to allow an objection in respect of a certain portion, 64 acres, and to disallow it in respect of the remainder of the land, 285 acres.
