Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Mayo Forestry and Nursery Centres.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if it is his intention to close down the forestry and nursery centres in Lough Carra forest (Moorehall), County Mayo, and the total sum paid in wages in the centre since its establishment.

There is no proposal to close down Lough Carra forest or nursery. A large planting programme has been arranged for the present season. The expenditure on labour at this centre to date is approximately £4,700.

When the planting in that particular area is completed will the Minister assure me that the nursery established there will not be closed down?

I have said there is no such proposal.

After the planting has been completed?

The Deputy will have other opportunities of raising the matter. There is no such proposal, so far as I know.
