Vol. 127 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Personnel in County Kildare.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state, approximately, how many married Army personnel are stationed in County Kildare and if he will further state how many of such personnel are resident in married quarters, the property of the Department of Defence.

The approximate number of married Army personnel in County Kildare is 800. Of these 430 are provided with married quarters.

Has the Minister any intention of increasing the number of married quarters in the county?

We are always endeavouring to increase the number of married quarters both for officers and men in all centres, not necessarily in any particular one.

Has the Minister any plans for the County Kildare, or is it going to be left to the Kildare County Council to do the job for the Department?

Merely where they can be secured. There are no plans for community building or anything of that sort.
