asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) if it is the policy of the Government to expend £29.4 million on capital projects in the current year as outlined by the Minister for Finance in his Budget speech on 2nd May, 1951; (b) the manner in which it is proposed to finance the capital investment programme this year; (c) the amount expended by the Government on items of a capital nature between 13th June and 1st November, 1951, and (d) the manner in which such expenditure was financed.

(a) The Government have not curtailed the programme of expenditure, current and capital, set out in the 1951 Budget statement; (b) the means of financing capital and other expenditure is under consideration, the resources available being deficient; (c) classified statistics of expenditure are not available for the broken period indicated by the Deputy; (d) the manner in which Exchequer issues are financed is shown in the weekly Exchequer statement, published in Iris Oifigiúil.
