Vol. 127 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bread Prices.

Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give an assurance to the Dáil that bread will not be increased in price to the consumer.

At the moment there is no question of increasing the price of bread, but the Deputy will appreciate that I am not in a position to give an assurance that the price will never be raised.

Mr. Byrne

The Minister states "at the moment."

That is what I said.

Mr. Byrne

Do you contemplate it within the next seven or eight days?

Mr. Byrne

Rumours are abroad that that is so.

Do not believe the rumours you hear, Deputy.

Mr. Byrne

Will you give a guarantee that it will not be increased?
