Vol. 127 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Moy Catchment Area.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the date on which the Commissioners of Public Works were instructed to carry out a survey of the Moy catchment area under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945.

The Commissioners of Public Works were directed by my predecessor on 12th June, 1951, to seek the sanction of the Minister for Finance to a proposal that the Moy catchment should be next for survey in pursuance of the programme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. The sanction of the Minister was communicated to the commissioners on the 17th July, 1951.

May I take it, from the reply of the Parliamentary Secretary, that his statement to the Seanad on July 25th, as reported in Volume 39, column 1362, that he had redeemed my promise, is a damned lie?

That is an expression which may not be used in respect of any statement made in this House, and the Deputy must withdraw it.

But that is what it is.

The Deputy must withdraw the expression.

I withdraw it, but I say that the statement was not correct.
