Vol. 127 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands whether it is yet intended to plant the Slieve Phelim Hills in the Cappawhite, Hollyford, area of County Tipperary; and, if so, when development is likely to begin.

Development of the Slieve Phelim area began with the acquisition of an area of 717 acres some years ago. This area is known as Cappamore Forest and planting has been done on 371 acres of this area and a further 200 acres are scheduled for planting this year.

Agreement has been reached for the acquisition of a further area of 194 acres (in this area) and inquiries are in progress in respect of further areas in the Slieve Phelim area extending from Cappamore to Cappawhite.
