Vol. 127 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Christmas Unemployment Relief.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is prepared to make a special grant available to the Dublin County Council and to the Dun Laoghaire Corporation for the relief of unemployment during the Christmas period.

The usual grants for the relief of unemployment during the winter months amongst men who are applicants for unemployment assistance in the Dublin County Council and the Dun Laoghaire Corporation areas have already been notified to the local authorities concerned.

I am not aware that the number of men registered as in receipt of unemployment assistance in these areas has increased to the extent of warranting the allocation of a special grant.
