asked the Taoiseach if he will indicate the cost-of-living index figure for October, and the percentage increase over October last year.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost-of-Living Index Figure.
The Interim Cost of Living Index (Essential Items) is computed four times a year, at mid-February, mid-May, mid-August and mid-November. No figure is therefore available for October but the last available index number, that for mid-August, 1951, was 111, which represents an increase of 11 per cent. on the index for mid-August, 1950.
Would the Parliamentary Secretary say what was the figure for June, and what was the percentage increase?
I have not got the figures for June. The figure for May was 109. The percentage increase was nine.
The Supplementary Question was badly planned-out by just one month.
